Text Box: I find this awkward to talk about and please don’t mention my name but I have an excessive amount of labial tissue and it can prove embarrassing. It will sometimes hang out of my bathing suit and often gets irritated by my undergarments. What can I do about it?

Text Box: Traditionally simple removal of excess tissue has been a satisfactory solution. Occasionally, however, scarring can distort the tissues and may even cause pain during intercourse. Plastic surgeons have developed a way of limiting the scarring to the tissues toward the front where most of the excess is. The scar can be made in such a way the it does not show, does not interfere with normal sensation and won’t contract to potentially cause pain. The procedure can be done under local anesthesia or with intravenous sedation for those who prefer it that way. Recovery is similar to episiotomies.
